Hello everyone! I’m absolutely delighted to be able to say that we have a baby on the way in the very near future and are at the stage of getting prepared for it! One thing that I’m sure will have come as a shock to many expectant parents is the sheer amount of baby stuff that comes as suggested purchases. So today I’ve got a guide as to which UK shops provide discounts or other offers on baby stuff.

UK Shops with Free Baby Stuff and Discounts
A significant number of retailers have baby and parenting club type arrangements which is really useful.
At best, some of these schemes will give you some free stuff at key stages for baby. At worst, they will give you a running discount or a significant boost in loyalty points when buying baby stuff. It’s really useful to have.
Amazon Baby Wish List
One of the best deals we found was Amazon’s Baby Wish List. This offers a 15% discount on anything that falls under the baby category on Amazon up to £300 of discount. (For avoidance of doubt, anything outside the baby category does not benefit from the discount).
You can sign up for the wishlist at this page here. You’ll be asked for your baby’s due date, and will be given access to the 15% discount for 180 days before the due date and 90 days after the due date.
We found the discount did seem to apply on wider Amazon sales as well which was incredibly helpful.
To get the discount to apply, you’ll need to create the list then wait 14 days. After that, the discount will apply automatically at the checkout stage.
You’ll also get a free welcome gift when you add £20 worth of stuff to your list.
It’s also rather useful as you can share the wishlist with friends and relatives who might be wanting to get you an additional baby gift! If you make your wishlist searchable then your friends and family will be able to find it by name.
(Helpfully as well it can also let you know who has bought what in order to do thank you’s and tracking etc.)

Boots Parenting Club
High Street Chemist Boots have a Parenting Club part of the Advantage Card scheme (reviewed at the link).
Signing up for this will double the Advantage Card Points on baby purchases up to 8 per £ (which works out as 8p cashback).
You’ll also get a series of free items at each stage of your child’s development, and access to expert advice and tips on looking after your children for parents.
Finally you’ll also get access to bonus offers unlocking in the Boots app for baby products that are unique to Boots Parenting Club members.
To sign up, click “My Account” when logged in on the Boots Website, then “My Advantage Card” you should see a Club section with Parenting Club listed. Click through to join up.
You can also do this via the Boots App – just go for “More” as your starting point on a signed in account.
Marks and Spencers The Parent Hood
Marks and Spencer also have recently launched their own parents loyalty scheme in the form of “The Parent Hood”. This is aimed at those who are expecting or have children up to two years old.
One of the main benefits of the scheme is 10% off BabyGrows for a year – M&S does some nice ones and these are an essential so that’s rather helpful.
They’ll also pass on a monthly reward and at selected cafes run parent and baby mornings where you can get a free slice of cake, pastry or a fruit pot when buying any hot drink.
Finally you’ll get access to recipes for babies, which is a nice link in to M&S’s food offering.
M&S The Parent Hood is connected to the M&S Sparks scheme and you’ll need to be a member of that in order to sign up.

Morrisons More Toddler and Baby Club
Morrisons have a Toddler and Baby Club which forms part of the Morrisons More loyalty scheme (our review at the link). This one is aimed at children up to 5 years old so has a longer validity period than some of the other schemes we’ve mentioned.
Morrisons More is a simple add on which gives you specially selected vouchers alongside the usual shopping vouchers you get in order to give you some extra money off.
You’ll also get access to a range of family friendly recipes aimed at this age group.
To join the Morrisons More Baby and Toddler scheme, you’ll need to go into the My Account section on the Morrisons website or through the app, then choose Morrisons Clubs and select to join the Baby and Toddler club.
Asda Rewards Baby and Toddler Club
Asda also have a Toddler and Baby Club offers as part of the Asda Rewards loyalty programme (our wider review at the link).
The works very similar to the Morrison scheme above, where you opt in to an additional club which provides you with some extra cashpots and vouchers specific to baby and toddler items, to get you some extra cashback in store.
You can sign up at the Asda Website or on the Asda Rewards app – go into the Asda Rewards Selection, select more in options and then Clubs.g
UK Shops with Baby Discounts on full Nursery Shops
There are a couple of retailers out there who offer full Nursery appointment services and will discuss with you various things you might need and try out different options.
They offer quite substantial discounts, but only at higher spends. It’s really important to remember that whilst there will be some bigger ticket items you do need (prams!), you won’t need everything right away so it’s worth really thinking about what you need.
However, if you do want to consolidate everything into one shop (we did) then discounts can be large, especially if you can pick it up with other in-store promotions.
Are in-store nursery appointments actually useful?
We found the in-store appointments with the ability to try out various products is extremely useful.
To get the most out of the appointments, I’d suggest doing some think beforehand on where you want to focus the appointment and what’s important to you. I.e if you have space requirements, or want a pram that works well in the countryside etc. being able to state this at the start to help the assistant recommend suitable products is useful.
For items you’ll be using every day like prams, I’d absolutely suggest checking things like that they have a folding mechanism that works for you and giving it a push around the shop. (Also remember to check it fits nicely in your car!)
We went to both Mamas and Papas and John Lewis and had excellent service in each case. They were knowledgeable, were led by us in terms of what we want and there was no pressure placed on us to buy anything.
John Lewis Nursery Advice
John Lewis offer a free nursery appointment service where you can choose either a 45 minute appointment if you just want to talk about a single or couple of products, or a 90 minute appointment if you’re looking for a complete stock up. There’s also a 60 minute zoom call option.
It’s definitely worth booking in early for the in-store appointments as they are in pretty high demand! My suggestion is to go for an in-store one if you can because you really will want to see and feel many of the products.
To get an extra discount you have to be a member of the MyJohnLewis scheme (details on that here), but you’ll get 10% off purchases of over £1,000 or 15% off a spend of over £2,000.

Mamas and Papas Buying for Baby Appointment
Nursery specialist Mamas and Papas also have a range of appointment under their “buying for baby” scheme.
These are offered on an in-store basis. You can make a number of different appointments at their site depending on what aspects of baby purchases you are looking at – or opt for the full works!
If you make a purchase, Mamas and Papas will provide you with an additional voucher at different spends. The rules of the scheme also allow the store manager to apply this as an immediate discount on the purchase – however this is entirely at their discretion so don’t consider it as guaranteed.
You’ll get the following vouchers or discount at each spend level – I have also calculated the percentage this would be in brackets if applied as a discount, which shows there are only really two levels of discount being applied.
- A £100 voucher at a £1000 spend (10%)
- A £150 voucher at a £1500 spend (10%)
- A £265 voucher at a £1750 spend (15.1%)
- A £300 voucher at a £2000 spend (15%)
- A £375 voucher at a £2500 spend (15%)

Discounts on Ready Meals
Cook! New Parents Discount
One that’s more for the parents than the baby, but keeping yourself fed can be challenging in the early stages of parenthood.
Cook! do high quality ready meals and partner with lots of local stores you can pick them up (and have some branches of their own) or include delivery over a certain spend.
Knowing their likely audience, Cook offer a 10% New Parents discount which is valid for a year from a start date of your choosing – fantastic!
(P.S If you’re ordering for the first time from Cook, you can beat this on your first order by using our referral link – this will get you a 15% discount on your first order rather than 10%, and you can use the New Parents discount going forward).
