Hello everyone. London restaurant The Ivy has been on an absolute tear of expansion across the UK and become a popular place on many high streets. Recently, The Ivy Group has launched a new loyalty scheme in the form of its Premier Rewards app, and so we’ll be conducting a review today to ask if it’s worth it!

Quick Verdict on The Ivy Premier Rewards

The Ivy Premier Rewards is an excellent loyalty scheme that offers a decent rate of cashback with the ability to still get rewards on cheaper set menus, as well as opportunities for bonus cashback. If you like the brand, it’s definitely worth it.

How does Ivy Premier Rewards Work?

The Ivy Premier Rewards scheme has two different layers to it. You’ll get a reward on your overall spend and also an additional stamp on a per visit basis for repeated visits.

You’ll also apparently get priority when booking tables as a member of Premier Rewards although in practice I haven’t noticed much difference to what I could get online without the app – presumably in particularly busy times this might make a difference.

Having said that, I would recommend booking via the app anyhow – simply because it creates a linkage between the booking and your reward account.

This will mean you should automatically get credited with your points after the visit (and you can also add any ongoing promotions onto the visit).

Benefits of Ivy Premier Rewards

Here we’ll go into the detail of what Ivy Premier Rewards offers.

Cashback Reward on Visits to The Ivy Group

Whenever you dine at The Ivy or other members of the Ivy Group, you’ll receive points at the rate of 1 point per pound spent, excluding any tip.

This converts into a 5% cashback rate – so for instance if you spend £100 you can get £5 off a future meal.

Bonus Birthday Cashback

In the two weeks either side of your birthday you’ll earn some bonus cashback giving you 2 points per pound spent and an effective 10% cashback rate.

Whilst this is obviously a bit of marketing to try and get you to book a birthday dinner there, this is quite a substantial credit towards a future meal, even if The Ivy restaurants are not the cheapest.

Per Visit Stamps

You’ll also earn a stamp after each visit to the Ivy Group.

After 10 stamps your status will be upgraded from Green to Ivy Premier Rewards Gold status, where you’ll unlock two additional benefits:

Extra Birthday Surprise

On top of the double birthday cashback listed above, you’ll also receive a bonus surprise on your birthday, which is usually a dessert.

A visit to the Ivy Club

Ivy Premier Rewards Gold will also get a single day invitation for yourself and one guest to The Ivy Club, a members club which is located above the original Ivy Restaurant. You can see more details of this on The Ivy Club website.

I haven’t been myself so I’m unable to review this particular bit of the reward scheme, but we’d really welcome hearing about some of our reader experiences, so please do write into the comments if you have been.

Extra Bonuses with Ivy Premier Rewards

I’ve also found that the Ivy Group has tended to offer a few extra bonuses as promotions at point of booking.

For instance I was able to grab a promotion that gave me double visit stamps for dining in. The scheme is still relatively new as I’m writing this, so it will be worth keeping an eye on how frequent they are.

As I made my booking through the app, I was asked if I’d like to apply any particular promotion to this and could select this.

Further savings at the Ivy Group with Amex.

It’s a card that’s only suitable for the very highest of earners owing to it’s pretty colossal annual charge, but if you’re someone that holds the American Express Platinum Card, you get two £100 dining statement credits a year – one from January to June and one from July to December.

There’s relatively few places to spend this credit, but the Ivy Group is one where you can so it’s not a bad way to make use of that benefit.

We steer you more towards other cards in our guide to the best UK reward credit cards given the £650 annual fee, but you can find out more details and get an extra refer a friend bonus at our link here if you’re pondering this card.

Amex Offers for Non-Platinum Card Holders

For those without a Platinum Card, we’ve occasionally noticed offers for the Ivy as part of American Express Offers although these can be infrequent. To take a look, just open the American Express App and hit “Offers” in the bottom row.

Overall Ivy Premier Rewards Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Ivy isn’t the cheapest of restaurants to begin with, but Ivy Premier Rewards is a well designed loyalty scheme that does encourage repeat visits.

5% works out pretty well for cashback on a loyalty scheme and benefits such as the double birthday percentage really enhance that further. We also appreciate the fact that both the ability to earn and spend your points are pretty unrestricted.

Advantages

  • Good cashback rate
  • Unrestricted ability to earn and spend
  • Good tied in promotions
  • Those with Platinum Cards can benefit from Amex Credit

Disadvantages

  • Ivy Prices not the cheapest to start with.

FAQ’s about The Ivy Premier Rewards

How long do Ivy Premier Rewards Points last?

Points will last for 12 months from the date they were earned before expirng.

How quickly are Ivy Premier Rewards points given?

According to the app, the points should be allocated to your account within 24 hours of dining.

In practice, I found this actually wasn’t the case – a recent visit did appear but took two weeks to do so. I was regretting not taking my receipt as I thought it had been lost!

You can submit a claim for points with a copy of your receipt via the app, so I might suggest keeping a copy or taking a photo with your phone just so you can upload it in case of issues.

Can I use Ivy Premier Rewards with a Set Menu / 1917 Heritage Menu?

Yes, you can earn Ivy Premier Rewards with any dine in experience at The Ivy Group!
