Hello everyone! I love the cinema, and every time I go you’ll usually see an advert nestled amongst the trailers for your cinema brand of choice having some form of Unlimited Pass, where you pay a monthly fee for unlimited screening. I’ve often wondered if I should get one of these, so I thought I’d do some investigation into if an unlimited cinema pass is worth it!
We’ve also compared the cost and benefits of each cinema membership to help you work out which is the best value for you.

Is an unlimited pass the cheapest cinema option?
It’s quite dependent on when you go – most cinemas price their unlimited pass in the £15-20 mark, which around me (Zone 2 London) means you’d be in profit if you saw 2 or more films a month (without using another discount).
However, that doesn’t account for taking advantage of other deals, and this may be a better route for people who are in that 1-2 films a month bucket, and don’t mind the cinema possibly being a little busy.
Anyone who has bought insurance with Compare the Market can get a half price cinema ticket with Meerkat Movies (our review here) on Tuesday and Wednesdays – even going twice with this is likely to be cheaper, but ties you to specific days. Mobile Apps like O2 Priority can tend to run bonus offers, and Groupon occasionally has deals on groups of cinema tickets.
Basically – an unlimited pass gives you good flexibility and often will be the cheapest way, but if you’re happy to go when you can take advantage of other offers, you can still find you can make it cheaper.
What Cinemas offer Unlimited Cinema Passes in the UK?
There’s quite a few schemes out there – I have listed these for the large UK-wide chains out of practicality, however you may also find some regional cinemas it’s worth taking a look at.

Premium vs. Regular Cinemas
One point worth drawing out now is there are really two different comparisons here – if you just want to see a film in a cinema and want to simply get value, your focus should be on Odeon vs. Cineworld (which we compare below)
The other comparison here of Everyman vs. Curzon is a different beast – these are more focused on the luxury end of the market and both at a significant price premium. (Another comparison below).
In the rest of the article, I’ll compare these two groups against each other.
Odeon myLimitless Unlimited Cinema Pass
How much is Odeon myLimitless?
A basic Odeon myLimitless pass is £16.99 per month. This provides unlimited access at all Odeon Cinemas except those in the West End or Odeon Luxe Cinemas.
You can purchase an add-on for the West End cinemas for an additional £2 per month – unless you live around there or are meeting with friends in the area frequently, we’d suggest this isn’t necessary.
If you’re looking to use Odeon myLimitless for an Odeon Luxe Cinema, you’ll need a myLimitless Plus pass which is £19.99 a month. If your nearest Cinema is a Luxe, this may well be worth it.
How long do I need to commit to Odeon myLimitless for?
If you choose to Pay Monthly, you can stop the plan after 3 months. The only advantage for doing this is that if you pay yearly in advance, you’ll get a small discount (£10 on the year).
For avoidance of doubt – you cannot pay for the year and then get a refund if you decide not to use it, so it’s worth thinking about how certain you are before signing up.
Do you get Premier Seats or 3D films with Odeon myLimitless?
Only with the myLimitless Plus pass – otherwise you’ll need to pay a supplement.
Do I get anything else with an Odeon myLimitless card?
You’ll also get 10% off food and drink at Odeon cinemas…..however food and drink at the cinema is so overpriced we’d say ignore this and get something from elsewhere!
You can also get 10% off tickets for friends and family.
Nope, this is strictly against the T + C’s and is likely to result in your card being voided if caught.

Cineworld Unlimited
How much is Cineworld Unlimited?
So Cineworld Unlimited pricing structure is fairly confusing. Cinemas are classified into four “groups” and you can see what group your local cinema falls into at the Cineworld website here.
The higher the number, the more cinemas you can use it at but the higher the cost.
What this means is if your local cinema is Group 1, you’ll get the cheapest price, but can’t use your Cineworld Unlimited pass at any group 2-4 cinemas (without paying a small uplift fee). Whereas if you have a higher pass like a group 3, you can use those at group 1 and 2 cinemas.
I’d describe it as “sensible but not straightforward!” My advice is to review the price for your local cinema, and unless you expect going to another higher-group cinema very regularly, pay for the uplift on those occasions rather than taking a higher group as a matter of course.
As a broad guide:
- Group 1 is £12.99 a month
- Group 2 is £17.99 a month
- Group 3 is £19.99 a month
- Group 4 is £22.99 a month.
So far as I can tell, the only Group 4 Cineworld Cinema that exists is Leicester Square.
How long do I need to commit to Cineworld Unlimited for?
If you choose to Pay Monthly, you can stop the Cineworld Unlimited plan after a 3 months.
Cineworld are trying to encourage longer term commitment however by offering some of their extra benefits like food and drink discounts and 3D screenings are included as free if you pre-pay a 12 month term.
Otherwise, these benefits start to appear if you subscribe for longer than an initial 3 months.
Do you get Premier Seats or 3D films with Cineworld Unlimited?
3D films are not included in your first 3 months if subscribing monthly or short term, but are included immediately if paying for 12 months up front. Otherwise, you’ll get this after 3 months of membership.
We don’t actually see this as much of a perk, as 3D films are quite rare these days.
Premium screens like IMAX, 4DX or ScreenX do require an additional fee, even as an unlimited member.
Do I get anything else with a Cineworld Unlimited card?
You’ll also get 10% off food and drink at Cineworld cinemas, rising to 25% when you’ve been a subscriber for more than 3 months (or instantly if you prepay for 12 months).
However, food and drink at the cinema is so overpriced we’d say ignore this and get something from elsewhere!
You’ll also get a free popcorn on your birthday (if subscribed to Cineworld’s mailing list to get the voucher) and 50% off “event” type screenings, like live sport or National Theatre/Opera performances.
Finally you can book seats at up to 5 films at a time without incurring further booking fees.
Nope, this is strictly against the T + C’s and is likely to result in your card being voided if caught.

Odeon myLimitless vs. Cineworld Unlimited Membership Compared
We highlighted earlier that Odeon vs. Cineworld was the better comparison for everyday value, so let’s pause here and compare these side by side before moving onto the luxury chains.

Is Cineworld Unlimited or Odeon myLimitless better value?
They are very similar with both having breakeven points of roughly 2 visits per month, to the point you should likely go for the one closest to you.
If you have both near you, we think Cineworld looks better value for the Group 1/2 Cinemas as you get slightly more, but an Odeon Luxe with the myLimitless Plus membership is likely to be a nicer option for the money than Cineworld’s Group 3 or 4 cinemas.
Everyman Cinema Membership
How much is Everyman Cinema Membership?
Everyman Cinemas offer three levels of membership.
An Everyman Membership at £95 gives you 6 tickets a year, with the ability to bring a guest on Mondays for free (although, not bank holidays). That’s equivalent to £15.83 per ticket without the 2 for 1 applied.
An Everyicon membership at £350 (or £31 per month) gives you 24 free tickets a year, however you can effectively share this membership as you can use 2 on each booking. You can also still bring a guest for free on Mondays.
At the yearly price, this is the equivalent of £14.58 per ticket, so it’s not a huge extra saving if you’re not certain you’ll use all the tickets.
An Everywhere Membership is a whopping £680 per year, or £59 a month. This is the only truly unlimited cinema pass that Everyman offer, however note you can book for 2 people using it, so if you’re a real cinema regular always going with a friend or partner, it may be worth looking at – but just be sure you’ll use it at that price!

All Everyman memberships are for 12 months.

With all levels of Everyman Cinema Membership you’ll get 10% off food and drink and private hire.

Curzon Cinema Membership
Curzon membership is much more flexible than some of the other membership schemes, and has two core options, unless you’re under 25 in which case you get a bonus one.
Curzon Classic Membership is £55 a year (£11 a ticket). You can also use your ticket on Curzon Home Cinema if you can’t make it to the physical cinema, and get a discount on food and drink in the cinema.
You also apparently get discounted tickets for any guests, which sounds a nice perk but I can’t see how big this discount is (Curzon members, please do write in and tell me).
Curzon Cult membership is more of a classic unlimited plan, offering 7 tickets a week for yourself for £25 a month, or £285 a year (a £15 discount on annual membership). You can also use this on home cinema options.
If lucky enough to be under 25, you can get a free membership which will enable you to see films at £9 peak or £6 off-peak at all times.

Is Everyman membership or Curzon membership better value?
The Curzon cult tier represents the better value for money – however in practice the Curzon chain is much more limited in location, with Curzon’s based mainly in London locations.
Do Showcase Cinemas offer an unlimited membership?
Showcase Cinemas presently don’t offer an unlimited plan.
It is worth signing up for Showcase Insider membership, as you can get discounted tickets at particular off-peak times and days and occasional special offers.
Do Vue Cinemas offer an unlimited membership?
Vue at present don’t offer an unlimited plan. If you have O2 Priority or Octopus Energy they have been frequently running a 2 tickets for £9 promotion, so it is worth checking that.
It’s also worth signing up to be a Vue Club Member, as you’ll get the ability to cancel for a refund for free plus the occasional special offer. You’ll also get a loyalty stamp after each visit, with a free cinema ticket available after 10 visits.
Which unlimited Cinema Pass is the best value?
With any membership scheme, the most important thing is that you do use the benefits from it – so better to go to a more expensive one you’ll use more than a cheap one you won’t.
If you have a Curzon near you their deal is a very strong offering given its flexibility, however the locations remain limited.
For most people and heavier users however, the Odeon myLimitless scheme will often represent the best value available for an unlimited cinema pass, even after accounting for upgrades for Luxe or West End cinemas, however Cineworld’s Group 1 and 2 cinemas run it very close.
The only exception is if you’re in an area with a Cineworld Group 1 cinema, which at £12.99 per month remains one of the best deals out there for unlimited cinema.
Obviously, the cinemas in this list do vary – an Everyman etc. tend to be much more comfortable and spacious which is reflected in their price point.

One widely known perk of having a club Lloyds current account is six free Vue cinema tickets per year . You might amend your article to add this to the special deals you refer to. I think there is also the option to choose another Chain (Odeon/Cineworld?) instead.
